Media Accreditation

Media accreditation for the Belém Climate Summit

Press accreditation for the COP30 Heads of State Summit requires registration on the official platform by October 31, with documents, photo, and proof of journalistic affiliation.

Due to logistical and security adjustments, the Brazilian organizing committee informs that credentials issued by the UNFCCC will not be accepted for access to the Belém Climate Summit (November 6 and 7). Access on these dates will require, without exception, a specific credential issued exclusively through the national accreditation system.

Below are the updated instructions for the accreditation of commercial media professionals for the Belém Climate Summit. Questions should be directed to press.leaders.cop30@itamaraty.gov.br.

1) DEADLINES AND PLATFORM

Accreditation must be completed exclusively via the platform by October 31, 2025 (Friday), at 6:00 p.m. Brasilia time (BRT; GMT-3), without exception.

No on-site accreditation will be available, and late applications will not be accepted.

To complete your registration, follow these steps:

1. Access https://cop30.br/accreditation/media

2. Select “BELÉM - PA – COP30 - BELÉM CLIMATE SUMMIT” and enter your email address (only one registration per email).

3. A code will be sent to your email to continue.

4. Fill out the form and attach the required documents.

5. A confirmation email will be sent upon submission.

Important: Requests submitted after October 31, 2025, 6:00 p.m. (BRT) will be denied.

2) REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

• Recent square photo, neutral background, centered and visible face, no sunglasses or filters, high resolution (examples attached).

• Valid photo ID (Driver’s License or ID for Brazilians, Passport for foreigners).

• Letter on official media letterhead, signed by the Editor-in-Chief, confirming professional affiliation and intent to cover the event (template attached).

• Accepted formats: PDF, JPG/JPEG, or PNG, legible.

• Not accepted: DOC/DOCX, PAGES, compressed files (ZIP/RAR), or restricted-access links (e.g., drive folders requiring login).

3) REVIEW AND REJECTION CRITERIA

The organizers will review all applications. Failure to meet the requirements will result in rejection. Approval is subject to the Brazilian government’s evaluation.

3.1 Verification of journalistic activity

Only publicly active, continuous, and verifiable media outlets qualify for accreditation.

Ineligible categories include private companies without journalistic purpose, NGOs, consultancies, PR and communications agencies, institutional communication departments, and digital influencers.

Contracted third-party media companies must prove journalistic purpose and provide documentation of their engagement.

Official press professionals have a separate accreditation system, as communicated to delegations.

The Belém Climate Summit has separate participation and accreditation channels for civil society, including the Green Zone and side events.

3.2 Public proof of media outlet

Applicants must provide the official website (URL) of the media outlet. Requests without links, or with offline/incomplete/non-journalistic websites, will be denied.

3.3 Non-compliant photos

Applications with photos that do not meet the specified standards will be denied. Once approved, badge photos cannot be changed.

3.4 Low-quality or illegible attachments

Blurred, cropped, or poorly lit documents will lead to rejection. Note: DOC/DOCX, PAGES, ZIP/RAR, and restricted links are not accepted.

3.5 Invalid or inconsistent documents

Expired, forged, or conflicting documents will lead to rejection.

3.6 Improper badge name (“display name”)

Names must include up to two components (e.g., “João Silva”), without titles, emojis, or abbreviations.

• Invalid examples: “Dr. João da Silva, PhD”, “Prof.ª Maria A. de Souza”, “João ‘@canalXYZ’ Silva”.

• Valid examples: “João Silva”; “Maria Souza”.

3.8 Incomplete, duplicate, or late applications

Applications missing documents, duplicated (latest version considered), or submitted after the deadline will be rejected.

4) NOTIFICATIONS AND BADGE PICK-UP

Confirmation occurs only after validation of submitted data and documents. Applicants will be notified via email if approved or rejected.

Attention: No extensions will be granted beyond October 31, 2025, 6:00 p.m. (BRT). Late resubmissions will be denied.

Location, date, and time for badge pick-up will be announced via email and official channels.

Check your inbox, spam, and junk folders to avoid missing notifications.

5) VISAS

Brazil maintains visa exemption agreements with many countries. Visa policy details per nationality are available at General Visa Regime Chart — Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).

Foreign media professionals without visa exemption attending the Belém Climate Summit (November 6 and 7) and COP30 will be granted a free electronic visa valid until December 31, 2025, for stays up to 90 days.

To apply for the e-visa, applicants must access the Integrated Consular System (SCI) and upload a photo, passport copy, and proof of accreditation. Credential letters will be issued through the official platform for all accredited participants.

Approval of press credentials does not automatically guarantee visa issuance.

Processing time: up to 10 business days. The approved visa will be sent to the applicant’s email.

6) DATA PROTECTION

All submitted data and documents will be used solely for accreditation and security purposes for the Belém Climate Summit (November 6 and 7), in accordance with Brazilian Law, including the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
