Green Zone
This page provides information about the Green Zone of the COP30

COP30 is more than just a conference where leaders discuss global climate governance; it is also a space where solutions and innovations in response to the climate emergency are found. The Green Zone, located in the Parque da Cidade, is the space where civil society, public and private institutions, and global leaders connect, dialogue, innovate, and invest sustainably.
The Green Zone showcases solutions and partners that reinforce the commitment to an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) approach to international dialogue. Open to the public, this space promotes democratic engagement, diversity of voices, and transparency in climate discussions—complementing the diplomatic work carried out in the Blue Zone.
The Green Zone at United Nations Climate Change Conferences plays a key role in bringing the climate agenda closer to people’s everyday lives. Its focus is to make the debate accessible and inclusive, reinforcing the implementation of climate action and strengthening the COP Presidency’s call for a Global Mutirão against climate change.
Key objectives of the Green Zone
1. Enhance tangible climate solutions – A platform for non-state actors to showcase innovations, best practices, and experiences in climate change, mitigation, and adaptation.
2. Expand dialogue and public awareness – A free-access space for the local population, with educational, cultural, and interactive programming involving schools, youth, and families.
3. Foster networks and alliances – A favorable environment for cross-sector networking, encouraging strategic partnerships and cooperation to accelerate the implementation of climate commitments.
Guidelines and Principles
● The priority is not to maximize physical space, but to ensure high impact and return on investment.
● The Green Zone should not take the form of a trade fair, maintaining coherence with COP principles.
● Qualified spaces for socializing and networking should be created.
● The program should engage with an international audience, not limiting itself to Brazilian reality.
● The promotion of national and Amazônia culture — —including cuisine, arts, and cultural expressions—is a desirable and strategic element.
COP30 Strategic Objectives
● Strengthen the leading role of Brazilian ministries, state and municipal governments, parliament, the justice system, and other public actors in the climate agenda.
● Give visibility to Amazônia science, indigenous peoples, and local communities.
● Show the world the climate solutions of the Brazilian private sector, with an emphasis on innovation and sustainability.
● Ensure broad participation by civil society, including organizations and social movements without official observer status, at COP.
● Raise awareness and engage the population of Belém, host of COP30, strengthening the link between the territory and the climate agenda.
Expected Programming
The Green Zone will feature a wide range of activities: exhibitions, workshops, debates, cultural events, immersive installations, artistic performances, and concerts — fostering a dynamic, educational, and transformative environment.
