In addition to official events organized under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), COP30 is catalyzing a wide range of actions and meetings before, during, and after the negotiations in November, in Belém, Pará. To give visibility to these initiatives and make it easier for interested parties to participate, civil society organizations have launched the COP30 Events website, available in both English and Portuguese.

The site maps conferences, meetings, panels, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, and other programming tied to the climate agenda and sustainable development. COP30 Events includes listings from public and private institutions, civil society organizations, academia, and international networks.

Marina Cançado, founder of Converge Capital and one of the leaders behind the platform, emphasized that the tool is intended to support active participation by both Brazilian society and the international community at COP30, in line with the spirit of collective effort proposed by the Brazilian presidency of the conference.

She noted that social mobilization around the COP is already evident on the site. “We have launched COP30 Events recently and already have around 40 events registered. But our goal is to reach the hundreds. So we are making an active effort to engage with our national and international partner networks to ensure people are aware of the platform,” said Cançado. “The idea is for people to know, discover, and explore these numerous events, and to find ways to get involved,” she added.

In addition to Converge Capital, the initiative is spearheaded by the World Climate Foundation and the companies CLARICE and Profile, with support from the Arapyaú Institute, the Climate and Society Institute (ICS), and the Itaúsa Institute.

The platform maps events that will be held within the COP30 Green Zone, which hosts civil society activities during the conference; other initiatives taking place in Belém and around the world; and virtual gatherings.

To register an event on the platform, organizers may submit a request for inclusion. Listings are free of charge and reviewed by the site administrators to ensure relevance.

Events are categorized under topics such as climate finance and investment, nature-based solutions and land use, carbon markets, agriculture, livestock, critical minerals and commodities, productive sectors and sustainable infrastructure, climate resilience and adaptation, oceans and freshwater ecosystems, climate technology and innovation, business and private sector solutions, climate and gender, climate justice and human rights, climate policy and governance, activism and social mobilization, culture, art and entertainment for climate, sustainable food and food systems, among others.
