COP30 President, André Corrêa do Lago, and COP30 CEO, Ana Toni, are participating this week in meetings organized by the COP30 and COP31 Presidencies in Istanbul, Türkiye.

COP31 will take place in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9 to 20 November 2026, marking the next milestone in the collective implementation of the Paris Agreement. The conference will be presided by Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye,

The COP30 Presidency looks forward to working closely throughout 2026 with President-Designate Kurum, the Climate High-Level Champions, Samed Ağırbaş (COP31) and Dan Ioschpe (COP30), and Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, who will preside COP31 negotiations, building on the outcomes achieved in Belém to reinforce trust among Parties and accelerate progress on climate action.

“Sustained collaboration between COP Presidencies is essential to turn ambition into delivery and preserve trust in multilateralism,” says Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, COP30 President, who continues to convene and facilitate high-level dialogue while stewarding climate action until the opening of COP31. “Climate multilateralism could be upgraded to operate at two complementary speeds: a consensus-based track of negotiation that secures legitimacy and direction, and a track of implementation track that enables coalitions of capable actors to rapidly mobilize resources, scale solutions, and generate positive tipping points—without reopening what has already been agreed and fully operating on the base of what was agreed by consensus.”

While in Türkiye, Corrêa do Lago and Toni will participate in meetings with the UNFCCC and representatives from the COP31 Presidency. In the coming days, the COP30 President will also attend meetings at the headquarters of the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris and with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome. The goal is to discuss the roadmaps to transitioning away from fossil fuels, to end global deforestation by 2030, and to reach US$1.3 trillion in climate finance per year by 2035.

Last week, Toni went to Canberra, Australia, for meetings with the NDC Partnership, a coalition of more than 260 members, including over 140 countries, to deliver on ambitious, transformational climate action that helps achieve the Paris Agreement and drive sustainable development. In 2026, Brazil will be co-chairing the initiative alongside Australia.

In Australia, the COP30 CEO also met with Bowen and other members of the country's COP31 team. Toni conveyed well wishes, outlined the COP30 Presidency plans for 2026, and advanced the joint work the Presidencies will undertake this year.

As the road from Belém to Antalya unfolds, the COP30 Presidency reaffirms its commitment to close cooperation with Türkiye, Australia, and the Climate High-Level Champions to engage Parties and non-Parties alike and deliver ambitious, credible, and implementable climate outcomes.
