Brazil Launches COP30 Culture and Tourism Itinerary with Support from State-Owned Companies and Partner Institutions
The initiative offers free bilingual city tours for conference delegates and participants, showcasing the Amazon’s diversity and promoting sustainable experiences in Belém during the climate summit

The Government of Brazil has launched the COP30 Culture and Tourism Itinerary, an initiative offering free bilingual city tours for delegations and visitors from November 10 to 22 in Belém (PA), the host city of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30). The project is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and partner institutions including Banco do Brasil, BNDES, Caixa, Itaipu Binacional, Banco da Amazônia, and the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI).
The tours invite national and international participants to explore Belém’s historic, artistic, and natural heritage, providing an immersive experience that celebrates Amazonian culture, hospitality, and sustainability. Conducted in double-decker panoramic buses featuring the COP30 visual identity, the tours include interactive bilingual screens, gamified experiences, and dedicated welcome teams, ensuring an engaging and accessible experience for all audiences.
The initiative is part of the federal government’s broader effort to promote local tourism and highlight Belém as a destination during the conference, which is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors from Brazil and abroad. The route includes eleven cultural and tourist landmarks across the city, such as the Blue Zone (City Park), International River Terminal, Estação das Docas, Casa BNDES – Mercedários, Ver-o-Peso Market, Olympia Cinema, and the São Brás Market, among others.
Many of these locations have been renovated or newly developed with federal and institutional support for COP30, reinforcing the government’s commitment to leaving a lasting legacy for local communities and the Amazon’s tourism sector.
“COP30 is a showcase for Brazil and a tremendous opportunity to present the cultural and natural wealth of the Amazon to the world,” said Minister of Tourism Celso Sabino. “We want every visitor to take home a piece of Pará’s hospitality and see tourism as a driving force for sustainable development.”
About the Service
The city tours will run daily from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. as part of COP30’s official program. The inaugural tour, scheduled for Monday, November 10, will feature Curupira, the conference mascot, along with Minister Celso Sabino and partner authorities. About 50 monitors from the National School of Tourism will assist in welcoming and guiding participants.
All accredited participants in the Blue Zone can join the tours free of charge by presenting their COP30 badge. In the Green Zone, partner institutions will host special engagement activities through which visitors can also gain free access to the tours and cultural events during the conference.
The National School of Tourism
Officially inaugurated on November 29, 2024, in Belém, the National School of Tourism offers free, high-quality training courses to strengthen professional skills in regions with strong tourism potential. Since its creation, the school has provided over 5,000 in-person and online training opportunities in areas such as languages, visitor services, hospitality, food safety, and community-based tourism. The initiative forms part of COP30’s legacy, using professional training as a cornerstone for the sustainable growth of Brazil’s tourism sector.
Environmental Commitment
Highlighting the initiative’s sustainable focus, the buses used in the COP30 Culture and Tourism Itinerary are powered by Diesel R Petrobras, a renewable fuel that cuts greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70% compared to conventional diesel. The measure helps reduce the conference’s carbon footprint and underscores Brazil’s commitment to low-carbon tourism and the energy transition.
