The Brazilian Macro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) unveiled the Inova Amazônia Global Edition at COP30, an international call designed to propel innovative Amazon-based companies onto the global stage. This initiative marks a pivotal new phase, focusing sharply on achieving global scale, attracting investment, and solidifying businesses based on the sustainable use of the Amazon forest.
Targeting 80 high-potential regional startups, the Global Edition seeks companies with proven growth capacity from prior acceleration programs. The journey includes advanced online training, specialized mentorship, business matchmaking, international missions, and direct access to global investment funds. Sebrae’s Technical Director, Bruno Quick, stated, "The Amazon bioeconomy is a strategic powerhouse for Brazil. The Global Edition is specifically designed to accelerate these companies into the global marketplace."
This expansion places the Amazon's innovative potential on the radar of leading international investors. Quick emphasized, "Our commitment is to ensure these pioneering companies gain access to the most advanced market, investment, and knowledge opportunities globally." The Inova Amazônia program boasts a proven track record. Engenho, creator of "açaí coffee," transitioned from prototype to exporting to the US, Europe, Australia, and Latin America.
Since its inception in 2021, Inova Amazônia has supported 409 accelerated companies and 660 early-stage ideas, distributing R$16 million in grants. Its impact: 17% of participating businesses filed patents, 22% secured investment, and 31% began internationalization. Further information is available on the official Inova Amazônia webpage.
