COP30 President André Corrêa do Lago participated yesterday, June 24, in a high-level roundtable and reception at Buckingham Palace during London Climate Action Week. The gathering brought together leaders from government, the United Nations, business, science, and civil society to discuss how to accelerate the implementation of climate solutions and strengthen delivery through the Global Climate Action Agenda.

Following the roundtable, King Charles III heard about the importance of advancing climate action through collaboration across sectors and geographies, turning climate commitments into practical change, from clean energy and farming to nature, resilience and public engagement.

The event took place during a period of exceptionally high temperatures in the United Kingdom and at a pivotal moment in the international climate calendar, as preparations continue for COP31 and efforts intensify to translate climate commitments into tangible outcomes.

Participants included Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, Katie White, UK Minister for Climate, and Samed Ağırbaş, COP31 High-Level Champion. Former US Vice President Al Gore also participated, alongside John Kerry, former US Secretary of State, Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and Planetary Guardian, actors Theo James and Benedict Cumberbatch, and other representatives from business and civil society.

Convened by Climate Action and facilitated by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Nick Henry, the discussion focused on the Action Agenda, an essential pillar of the UN climate process that mobilises businesses, cities, investors, communities and civil society to advance climate action beyond formal negotiations. Participants examined examples of progress already underway and explored how successful initiatives can contribute to stronger outcomes in the years ahead.

Guided by the findings of the first Global Stocktake, the COP30 Presidency and the Climate High-Level Champions restructured the Action Agenda to turn commitments into transformative action, helping align efforts across sectors and geographies around practical solutions for climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience.

COP30 President André Corrêa do Lago said: “The roundtable was an extraordinary opportunity to debate the way forward after the establishment of the new structure of the Action Agenda at COP30 in Belém, to be used for the next five years. The fact that the roundtable happened in the midst of this heatwave strengthens the conviction that we need to act with urgency and that the structure of the Action Agenda is what we need now for implementation.”

The event was held during London Climate Action Week, one of the world's largest annual climate gatherings, bringing together leaders from across sectors to advance climate ambition and implementation.
