COP30 Presidency to Present the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Implementation Alliance

The COP30 Presidency, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Government of Italy, and the Government of Germany, will present the NAP Implementation Alliance in Bonn on Thursday, 11 June.
The event comes at a time when several countries are grappling with the impacts of climate change, as a severe heat wave affects Europe and the world prepares for a likely particularly intense El Niño.
To date, 76 countries have submitted NAPs, reflecting significant progress in adaptation planning. The pressing task is to increase political prioritization and collaboration among the ecosystem of institutions supporting NAPs to move from planning to implementation, translating national priorities into investment-ready strategies and bankable pipelines of projects and programmes.
The NAP Implementation Alliance was launched as a Plan to Accelerate Solutions under the COP30 Action Agenda. It seeks to provide a collaborative platform that brings together governments, multilateral institutions, development banks, private investors, philanthropies, technical assistance providers, think tanks and research institutions to strengthen collective support for NAP implementation.
This event will offer an opportunity for Parties, non-Party stakeholders, and international organisations to join the Alliance, demonstrate support for its objectives, provide feedback and suggest concrete ways in which it can help to improve the enabling conditions for the effective implementation of NAPs.
It has three major objectives: 1) Foster global collaboration on NAP Implementation; 2) Strengthen enabling environments for investment readiness and financing at the country level; and 3) Promote private sector engagement in financing NAPs.
