Powering the Transition Through Energy, Industry, and Finance

Day 5 of COP30 highlights how energy, industry, and finance are driving the global shift toward a sustainable and equitable future. Leaders from governments, business, civil society, and finance are uniting to accelerate the energy transition by pairing innovation with the investments needed to transform systems that power economies and communities. The day opens with a ministerial on the Belém 4X Pledge and the launch of the Clean Energy Ministerial Future Fuels Action Plan, a new platform to scale sustainable fuels. The Belém Declaration on Global Green Industrialization will rally partners behind a shared push to speed up green industry transition worldwide.

A ministerial on Novel Approaches to Transition Away from Fossil Fuels advances the Global Stocktake mandate, shifting from ambition to implementation through national action plans, partnerships, and finance alignment. Sectoral transformation is also in focus: a session on The Future of Energy in Shipping charts the path to net-zero maritime transport, while the High-level ministerial on Grids and Storage drives commitments to expand investment and policy solutions for electrification and energy access. With new initiatives—including the Global Grids and Storage Implementation Coordinating Council, an updated Global Energy Storage and Grids Pledge, and a Framework for Investable Pipelines—Day 5 shows how COP30 is mobilizing the full ecosystem needed to power the transition.
