The 2025 Partnership Call

Global Initiative for Climate Change Information Integrity

In June 2025, the Global Initiative for Climate Change Information Integrity, coordinated by UNESCO, launched its first partnership call

This call invites non-profit organizations to submit proposals addressing key challenges related to climate information. The call focuses on the following areas:

  • Collecting and producing evidence on how the spread of misinformation affects climate change;
  • Developing evidence-based communication strategies to counter these threats; and
  • Supporting investigative journalism initiatives that expose misleading narratives and/or promote public understanding of climate-related issues.

With an emphasis on the Global South, the initiative aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of phenomena such as disinformation, conspiracy theories, and orchestrated campaigns against well-established scientific knowledge. This knowledge is essential for developing evidence-based policies. This is a crucial step in the global response to the climate crisis.

The first call for proposals is open until July 7, 2025, to non-profit organizations that have been active and registered with UNESCO for at least two years. Funding amounts range from USD 30,000 to USD 150,000. Applications may be submitted in English, French, or Spanish.

Eligible organizations, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), research institutes, universities, and non-profit investigative journalism outlets, may use the funds to conduct in-depth research and produce technical reports on the climate emergency. The goal is to strengthen public discourse and media coverage while upholding scientific and editorial independence.

In addition to providing financial support, the call will facilitate the formation of a new global, interdisciplinary network committed to safeguarding the integrity of climate change information and developing recommendations for innovative policy responses worldwide.

The Global Initiative strongly encourages applications from organizations based in developing countries that work in multiple languages and participate in regional or global networks.

The Global Initiative and its partners urge the international community to amplify and share this opportunity widely through their networks. The integrity of climate change information is under threat, posing a global risk that demands a global response.
