During the Brasil–France Economic Forum held last week in Paris, the President of COP30, Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, emphasized the importance of collaboration between governments and businesses in accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy. The event brought together business leaders, government officials, and experts to discuss strategic topics, including decarbonization, energy transition, and infrastructure.

During the panel "The Role of the Private Sector in COP30 and the Implementation of the Paris Agreement," the ambassador recalled the 10th anniversary of the agreement and encouraged companies to contribute to climate solutions. "The active participation of the private sector is crucial to achieving global climate targets. COP30, to be held in Belém, will showcase Brasil and its partners' commitment to sustainability and innovation to the world,” said the COP30 president.

With representatives from major Brazilian and French companies in attendance, the discussion reinforced the need for investments in clean technologies, sustainable infrastructure, and innovative solutions to address climate change challenges. Leaders from international organizations involved in the climate agenda were also present.

The Brasil–France Economic Forum comprises the preparatory agenda for COP30, which will be held in Belém in 2025, and will bring together world leaders to discuss the future of climate and sustainable development.

During Environment Week, the governments of Brasil and France launched celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. This agreement was a historic turning point in the fight against climate change by uniting 196 countries in a joint commitment to limiting global warming to well below 2°C, with the goal of keeping it to 1.5°C. Over the past decade, governments, businesses, communities, and citizens have dedicated themselves to achieving the Agreement's goals in order to protect the planet for current and future generations.
