The Brazilian government has decided to bring forward the COP30 Heads of State Summit, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which is now scheduled to take place on November 6 and 7, 2025, in Belém, the capital of the state of Pará. The decision was announced by Valter Correia, extraordinary secretary of COP30, who emphasized the importance of holding the opening ceremony with greater ease and organization.

"The Summit is part of the COP, and the decision to bring it forward was made by Brasil. This will give us time for more in-depth reflection, without the pressure from hotels or the city, and will help us better organize the event's official opening," Correia explained.

The summit is part of the official activities of the conference, which will run from November 10 to 21, and will place Brasil at the center of global discussions on climate change. The federal government, in collaboration with the governments of Pará and Belém, is working to ensure adequate infrastructure and accommodation for participants during the eleven-day event.

Amazônia as a venue for debate

With more than 400 years of history, Belém, the capital of the state of Pará, is an important cultural, economic and logistical hub in the Amazônia. At the United Nations Climate Change Conference, according to the letter from the Brazilian COP30 Presidency, Brasil seeks to strengthen multilateralism, connect civil society and accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement, highlighting the importance of international cooperation, science and forest conservation in the fight against climate change.
